ATHLETICS

The athletics program at RCS is very diverse. We accommodate many of the talents of our students in the sports field. We encourage hard work, dedication, faithfulness, teamwork and commitment. The desire of the RCS athletic program is to promote healthy and strong competition with the integration of our faith.  Whenever we step on the court or playing field we represent not just ourselves or our school, but the Christian faith.

Secondary Campus

We have a thriving athletic program at the secondary campus with teams competing in Volleyball, Basketball and Badminton, as well as Track and Field.

Middle Campus

Our Middle School Athletics program is very popular with our students.  We offer a variety of competitive sports and also have regular intramural days.

Our Gr. 8’s are part of the Richmond School Sports Athletic Association and have several league games and playoffs within the school year.  We offer participation in badminton, volleyball, basketball and track & field through the city of Richmond.  We are also members of the BC Christian School Sports Athletic Association and attend tournaments with other Christian schools from all over the province.  We participate in volleyball, basketball, badminton and track & field with the Christian schools association.

Our Gr. 6 & 7 students are part of C.E.S.S. (Christian Elementary School Sports) and have several opportunities for athletic development.  We offer tournaments in soccer, volleyball, basketball, floor hockey, badminton, 2 track & field meets and ultimate frisbee.  We also play several games with local schools in the city of Richmond, both private and public, during our volleyball and basketball seasons.

The intramural program continues to evolve at RCMS.  We have one designated lunch period for each grade and the activities include soccer, volleyball, dodgeball, European handball, basketball, floor hockey, badminton, ultimate, games and relays.  We hope that every student will want to participate in being active during their intramural day and have student helpers to plan, create and implement the various activities.

Elementary Campus
Kindergarten to Grade 5 students enjoy a wide variety of athletic pursuits.  Physical Education classes are held twice weekly, as well we have a full intramural sports program.  There is also a running club.  Classroom teachers provide Daily Physical Activity (DPA) time as stipulated by the Ministry of Education.
